The BSN students of Kidapawan Doctors College, Inc. (KDCI) attended the Student Affiliated General Virtual Orientation on December 18, 2025, organized by the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

The orientation was led by the Chief Nurse of SPMC, Ms. Charity L. Mata, RN, MAN, together with Mr. Jake Francis Align Lao, RN, MN, CHA, FPCHA, FPSQua, the Clinical Coordinator for Nursing Affiliation of SPMC. The speakers discussed the importance of hospital policies and guidelines, as well as the infection control protocols implemented by the institution to ensure patient safety and quality nursing care.

A total of 234 KDCI nursing students participated in the orientation as part of their preparation for their upcoming clinical practice duties in various departments of SPMC. This activity is significant as it equipped the students with essential knowledge, professional expectations, and safety standards required in a tertiary hospital setting, thereby promoting competence, discipline, and accountability among future nurses. This initiative directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, by ensuring inclusive, equitable, and high-quality clinical learning experiences that enhance students’ professional competencies.

SPMC, as one of the leading Level III government hospitals in Mindanao, is recognized for its excellence in healthcare services, advanced medical facilities, and strong commitment to training and developing competent healthcare professionals. Through this orientation and continued collaboration with academic institutions like KDCI, SPMC reaffirmed its role as a vital partner in nursing education and clinical training. This partnership exemplifies Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals, highlighting the importance of strong institutional collaboration in advancing healthcare education and preparing students to deliver safe, ethical, and patient-centered care.
